When we discovered that one part of the screenplay has not made it into final series, we decided to bring this scene to life as THE UNSCEEN: A book that’s designed bi-scriptually, allowing people with visual impairments to experience it in Braille, while educating sighted people on how people with visual impairments read.
In the design process, we collaborated with Germany’s leading inclusivity experts, resulting in a best practice case for visually impaired-friendly media. The unique print of Braille on transparent paper makes it easy to compare letters from both writing systems. The spiral binding ensures each Braille page lays flat during reading. We carefully selected the ideal paper stock for the Braille embossing and incorporated a QR code for the audio script addressing visually impaired individuals who may not be familiar with Braille.
THE UNSCEEN was released in collaboration with Hugendubel, one of Germany's largest book retailers, and has set new standards for inclusive brand communication.
