Home — FREUD: A Netflix Original series

Brief —
The Netflix Original "Freud" is a fictional series that follows a young Siegmund Freud in his quest to solve several murder cases in Vienna in the early 1800's. With an eerie ambiance, the series utilizes elements of horror to heighten the tension and add an element of surreality. Freud's tries to solve the cases by exploring the individuals within individuals. Our aim was to develop campaign visuals that captured the show's unsettling vibe and complemented its intriguing plot.

Approach —
We researched documents of the real Sigmund Freud, and his theories. We tried to depict the ich, es, and über ich inside an intriguing / interactive campaign, that even changed looks over time.

Result —
For the show's branding we developed a distinctive typography that perfectly captured the essence of the series' era. Our campaign art was designed to evolve gradually, with the posters revealing additional layers of artwork as it endured nature and encountered curious passers-by. Over time, the secondary artwork underneath became increasingly visible, providing a unique and dynamic campaign experience. This campaign earned silver on the ADC Germany Awards.

I worked as an art director and designer on this project at MOTOR Kommunikation; this project was done under the supervision of Frederik Hofmann and Volker Jensen. Co-creators are Thomas Rendel and Nathalie Amegaschie on copywriting.
